Can someone tell me how much the 340 crawlers are going for? I found one near my home. The tracks look like they are in pritty good shape. It has a blade on the frount and a big wintch on the back. I don't know if it runs but it is kept in a shed and looks like it would run. This would be my first time with a crawler project and I don't no to much about them. Any help would be great!! Thanks

Is the machine a T340 or a TD340. The tracks in good shape are important but how are the idlers, the rollers and the sprockets. Check the pins an bushings.

On www.ibdozing.com in the message boards there was a very good and detailed discussion on the track section on how to determine or check tracks and UC on a machine. The moderator of the forum has been rebuilding tracks for 30 years.

They have a very active IH section and other sections for other crawlers.

Does it run, How well does it move. Are the steering clutches frozen or slipping.

Check the rollers. They are supposed to have oil in them, not grease. If they won't hold oil they are about $275.00 each. I knew nothing about dozers and bought a T340(gas) to build a pond. I built two ponds and like the dozer. The dozer cost $4,000. Less than the cost of paying someone to build one pond. I have a set of manuals, if I can help email me.
