Hello Ray, I agree what the other guys have said...air can be a big problem. Another place to look are the suction hoses between the pump, screen, and even back to the bottom of the transmission. If you have any that seep oil, it will definitely suck air there. Or sometimes, they will suck air even if they don't leak any oil. Sometime when its not picking up prime, get out your oilcan and start squirting all of your suction hoses, and the screen housing joint that Butch talked about. If you suddenly see the oil you're squirting disappear, you've found a problem. Doubleclamping the hoses sometimes works. If you do have to replace those hoses, make sure that you get 100R3, which is a double cotton or synthetic braid, no wire. Many places will try to sell you 100R4, which has a wire helix. Not only is this a bear to install, its even worse to try to get sealed on those hose barbs. If you have any problem getting the right hose, or ever need a charge pump, drop me a line.
