I was wondering if anyone knows about the parts interchangability between the different series of TD-9 4 cylinder diesel(gas start) engines. What serial numbers are the crankshafts the same, cylinder heads, connecting rod, sleeves, pistons, injector pumps, injectors, carbs, distributer, mag, etc. Also, can the block be bored to accept other series sleeves, and any other information anyone has. I am working on a WD-9, TD-9, and UD-16 and need lots of parts for the engines.....

Most all the WD 9's and TD 9's had the 350 cid engine. I believe it is the same engine as the older 335 cid, but with thinner sleeves to accept a larger piston. The 335 was expaned to 6 cylinders to become the UD 16, at around 501 cid. There is a 525 engine along these lines, and the TD 15 has a 554 based on an expanded 350. Except for the piston and sleeve combos, I think all the other parts are interchangable on these engines.

Not quite, TD9-91 used the D-350 as did the SWD9,600 , these engines also had a oil pump/engine balancer driven off the crankshaft

TD9 & WD9 both had the D-335, there was apower unit which was D-370

interesting about the others ,knew the 14 & 18 where the same bore & stroke

I have a service manual for the TD-9's with the 350 engine that shows the balancer, but my parts book for my Super WD-9 does not show one.I installed thinner sleeves in mine when I overhauled it.It takes the to 370 cu.in.My Super WD-9 and my WD-9 does not have balancers.

1. T-9 1940 to 1956 Motor # 335(G) 4 Cyl. TD-9 1940 to 1956 Motor # 335(D) 4 Cyl.

2. TD-9 / 91 1956 to 1959 Motor # 350(D) 4 Cyl.

3. TD-9 / 92 1959 to 1962 Motor # 350(D) 4 Cyl.

4. TD-9BPS 1962 to 1974 Motor # 282(D) 6 Cyl. Power Shift

5. TD-9BG 1962 to 1974 Motor # 282(D) 6 Cyl. Diesel Turbo // Gear Crawler

We would need the complete SERIAL NUMBER off of the engine to determine - what engine - we are talking about.

Regards, Milton
