I need to separate the track on my JD 350 to work on the final. I have found the master link, it has a shouldered cap in each rail with flats on 2 sides. Does any one know how to take this apart? I searched the archives, but could not find any reference to this type of master link. Thank you for any help you can provide.

The head type master pin had a snap ring. Release tension on the track and drive the pin out with a big hammer [ like 20 lbs. sledge]and a "t" handle pin.

Hey Glenn, I've saw these 2 different ways one being a plug (expansion type plug) that covers master pin and 2 master pin held in with a large cotter key, regardless of which style you have you must remove either the plug or key and drive pin out from the opposite side of rail that has the 2 flats on it, the 2 flats your seeing is actually the head of the master pin.
