I have been having trouble with trans slipping after about 45 minutes of operation. More so in reverse. I checked the pressure of the transmission as descibed in the tech manual. It reads about 100 psi (should be 165/185 psi@1800 rpm). I pulled the pressure regulator out to see if I could shim it but it has already been shimmed quite a bit. Is there any other places to loose pressure between the pump and the acumulator,or is the pump just bad? I have cleaned the screen in the trans and changed the filter. There was a little bit of stuff on the screen short of looked like some bits of gasket material. If you bring the rpm up to 3000 the pressure comes up to about 150 psi and the trans works pretty well, but that is a lot of rpm's to run at very long.

Like one of the other gents said...adjust the clutch pressure under that rubber plug in the bellhousing...If you have the manual follow it for "clutch linkage adjustment" I believe...It will also change the rate of shift for forward and reverse..but that can be fine tuned at the same linkage adjustment area.....but by what you describe , it sounds like you are feeding an internal leak....usually at the manifold...its sealed with piston rings and they tend to wear grooves in the manifold and break...Those HLR transmissions are a real joy to get in and out !!!

With the pressure gauge installed. adjust the clutch bolt that is located below the rubber plug near the clutch pedal. As you tighten the bolt the pressure will rise. This may help for a while, but with what you describe it looks like a reverser overhaul.

Mike I know very little about your tractor but most trans hold their pressure between high and low idle, a 10% pressure drop is good. As you said, it gets worse when warm tells me you have a leak, likely at the clutch seals. The material you found in the screen might be seal material. Check the pressures when you are in different gears and see if one is worse than the others. Hope this is some help.
