Just looking for a second opinion, dozer turns one way fine but wont turn the other way with out a loud grinding noise Iam almost positive that the cluches are stuck but would like any input on this problem. Also are there any tricks to get the master pin out of the track chain without a pin press? any info is greatly appreciated

We made a special tool for driving out the master link pin that works great. One side of it is shaped like a sledgehammer & the other side is a round pin smaller in diameter (slightly) than the track pin & has a sledgehammer handle. One guy holds the round pin side against the track pin & another guy drives it with a 10 lb. sledge. Pressure must be off the track adjuster. Usually takes only couple of whacks & pops right out - a two minute job. Can be made from old pick, grab skipper, railroad tool etc.

Jim: I would say you have a brake too tight. The brake is applying before the clutch is releasing. Usually with a stuck clutch the tractor will not turn towards the side that is stuck.

I have adjusted my brakes too tight before so they engage before they are supposed to and it really groans unless I back them off a bit.

Jim, sounds like your right about stuck clutches. Try pulling back on both levers real slow while you are going ahead. There should be a point when machine coast to a stop without coming onto the brakes. This should tell you if the clutches are stuck.About master pin, The way that works for me the best is make sure all tension is off. Then I take two hooks that I made and put one on each side of pin up on pads. Then I put chain with a binder and take all pressure off pin.It should pound right out.Hope this helps.
