We have a 850(I think - has the same motor as 830 tractor) Case Loader, and from what dad tells me it has had the same problem ever since he can remember. It works great when it is cold, but once it warms up, it begins to loose ability to change directions forward or back, or to steer. You need to basically jiggle the handles a little, then it may go, or it may take a minute or two of handle jiggling to get it to kick into whatever direction you want to head. The transission was overhauled probably 20 years ago (we don't use it very much) to fix this problem, but I guess it never changed much. ( I was pretty young at the time) We would use it a lot more if it worked better. The Torque converter pump(?) was rebuilt a few years ago, and that helped some, but after about an hour(in cold weather), it begins to act up. Any thoughts on this?

Also, just out of curiosity - how much is this machine worth? The engine was overhauled at the same time the transmission was, and I'd venture to guess that it has less than 200 hours on it since then.

Just went through the same problem. Changed the trans filter under the back of the seat on the left hand side. That was the majic cure for ours. I still am having problems finding engine parts. Case USA doesnt recognize David Brown engine and is no help in finding parts. Any suggestions?
