I have owned a John Deere Skidsteer for probably 12 years and never had a problem with it, recently it started acting up such as not steering and if it does its sporatic like it jumps. I have been advised to adjust the linkeage and also check for air leaks, I adjusted the linkeage and checked for air leaks did not see any and it did not change. It seems to be OK when the oil is cold but after about a minute it starts acting up, either doesn't steer or if it does it jerks around. It goes backward and forward fine. Steering is just a problem and the bucket lift is slow and spongy.

I dont know the hydraulic setup of your JD but if it were a Bobcat I would say its the hydraulic pump, on the older B/C's the hydraulic pump not only supplied oil for the boom functions but it also was a charge pump to supply oil to the hydrostatic pumps, and to my knowledge no skid-steer mfgr. makes their own pumps and motors so it is quite possible that JD and B/C both have similar hydraulic packages.
