You will want to make sure that it is not in gear. Make sure that the pony motor is in fact good and that starting gear is good. If that is bad that is very very cosly to fix and can be quite a challenge to find that part. The destruction of the starting gear on the pony motor has been the cause of an untimely death of many a CAT. I would presume that it is a cable dozer. It is capable machine, It will need some tlc to get it back up but a lot of guys have redone those machine. I just got a lubrictor of a fellow over in cresant IA that just got one. I have one for parts in KS that is for sale but needs a motor. The UC is very good. Since it is a diesel you are less likely to have the motor frozen or stuck. This assumes no water leaks any where and the stack was coverd. I would crack trany drain to see what the oil looks like and how much water is in there. On thing, is you check oil when running in them. If the oil seems high when it is stopped that is ok. It when it is running that is when you get concerned. Look at the rails and pads ect. That is where the cost gets high on the older machines to fix. Try to find out the history of the machine and why was it parked. They usally are parked for a reason. Does not mean that it is ruined, just allows you determine what you need to fix to avoid or reduce any unexpected surprises. Good luck, should be a very good restoration project
