is a 420(jd) crawler w/ blade frame, but w/o blade heavier than a combine head? i was loading it on a trailer made for a header, and it cracked the axle mounts. i am pretty sure it was just from the loading why it cracked, but i want to make sure before i take the 25 mile trip(we are using a JD G to pull the trailer) and break something else along the way.
thanks in advance doug

Doug,
I have a 440 not much difference but you are hauling approx 6,000 lb crawler, breaking something upon loading is always a bad sign, I use a car hauler and it is iffy, but legal.
also a JD G tractor is to small for that long a trip especially with out trailer brakes, my half ton ford pulls mine fine, just keep the speed down or trailer tires heat up and blow, if you should encounter this problem on that G mainly on a down grade you are in a loseing situation fast, tractor brakes are not that realiable nor designed to fight a pushing force, I trailer mine around the farm with a JD 3010 and she pushes me round enough to make me take notice.
best of luck.
