Has anyone here added a 3pt to their dozer? If so was it difficult or expensive? Would a 3pt of the same series tractor work, or would it have to come off another dozer/loader?

Jerri,
The rockshaft off of a 1010 or 2010 will not work at all. They bolt to the back of the frame members, where as 420-440 bolt to the top of the trans case. 420-440 use one cylinder on top of the left fender, 1010 uses 2 cylinders under the fenders. The drop links, draft links, and top link are all the same, even on 350. The drawbar is different on 1010, 2010, it is heavier. As long as you can find a rockshaft housing, everything else can be built.
Paul is right, they are not cheap, but are real neat when done correctly. If you need any help, let me know, we have put together several 3PT's and may be able to help you with some of the harder parts.

I have added a 3 point or in the process of adding a 3 point to my 420C. It is rather easy to add the 3 point. The rockshaft works off of a hydraulic cylinder. A 3 point off of a tractor will not work because the tractor 3 point works off of the tractors internal hydraulics. A 3 point for a 420 430 and 440 are the same I don't know about a 1010. To find a 3 point is hard and then be able to afford it. But they are out there to find. I found mine in a pile of dozer parts that the guy was scraping. The only thing that I am missing is the top link and buying one of those will cost me a arm and 2 legs. Bout $500 for just the top link. But it really makes the crawler stand out at shows. Hope this helps. If you have any other questions I may be able to answer them. Paul

Paul,

Thanks for the info. I was afraid that you could only use one from another dozer. The 420/430/440/1010 and 2010 are very close and would think that a 3 pt from any of them could be made to work. Now the problem would only be to find one that is not more expensive than the dozer.

Well I don't know if a 1010 will work But I know for sure that a 2010 3 point rockshaft will not work because I bought one think that it might be able to fit but it is compleatly different. The arms are the same but the rockshaft is the different. So if you find a rockshaft then the other parts are more or less the same. Hope this sheds a little light. Paul

Paul,

Thanks for the help. If you wouldn't mind could you tell me what was different on the rockshaft for the 2010 versus your 420?

Thanks,

Jerri
