Now that I have all the final drives and clutches functioning, there is a problem with my reverser. In the forward direction the power seems low, but in the reverse direction I only have enough power to barely move the machine. Are there any external adjustments that can be made to the reverser, and if so where is it located? I have to remove the engine to repair a malfunctioning throwout bearing and will the adjustments be easier to get to with the engine removed?

I was having similar problems, turns out the reverser had contaminated oil and the clutches were out of ajustment. It should have 3 1/4 quarts of type "A" transmission fluid. The oil must be between 1/2 and 3/4 inch below filler hole.
On each side of the reverser case is a 2 inch drum plug. Remove these and on the right side of the cat you will see the nut with a spring loaded pin that keeps it locked in place. You push in the pin and turn the nut upwards to reduce the tension or downwards increases tension. this is the side that sets up the reverse direction. I had to move the reverser lever back and forth slighly to get the nut to turn freely.
On the left side of the cat (carb side) you will have to turn over the engine to get the pin to line up with the opening before you can make ajustments.
Using a fish weighing scale, to pull on the reverser lever you should have 23-35 pounds pressure to release the lever in either direction. Hope this helps.

for reverse take out the back barrel plug (from setting position it would be on right hand side) there is a spring loaded pin push in on pin turn disk clockwise about 1/8 of a turn until you have 35pounds of pressure on reversing lever to snap into reverse (use spring loaded scales to check) make sure pin is in a slot good luck
