Hi,Scott, looks like you have done some pretty decent work on the ponds with the equipment you already have. As a rule of thumb, we used to figure about two hundred feet to be about far enough to move dirt with a dozer, things realy slow down and get costly after that. When you say "excavator" do you mean a track hoe? these machines will move a lot of material in short order with an experienced opeator. Don't expect a D6 or even a 7 to keep his spoil pile moved away, if he wants to get serious, [thats Hi Drives]. The availability of equipment will be a factor in what you use. Larger equipment will do the job cheaper, providing you don't have to pay too much for bringing it to the job site. A large loader, 4/5/6, yard will move the material that far quit easily, but I suspect that at least some of the material will be wet, this might lead to suggest track equipment would be better suited for the job. Trucks? well, might be too short a haul, and create congestion, also, if mud might be a concern..... Another thought that might be of interest, contract, is there someone with equipment close by that might be interested in doing the job for a pre-determined amount? With a proper contract drawn up to the satisfaction of both parties, this could lead to a viable option. Might even be able to include your own equipment in the deal. Wish that I were an expert on this sort of thing, then I could be of more help. Bill has a wounderful site at IBDozing, wish he would return my e-mail, have a gooder,R.E.L.
