I'm assuming this is a powershift machine? If so it may be one or more of the following: 1. The forward/reverse clutch pack (there's only one on this machine) seals or clutch discs are bad/worn. 2. The pressure regulator (that's responsible for maintaining sufficient oil pressure into the clutch pack) is not maintaining sufficient pressure to keep the clutch pack locked up in reverse. 3. The transmission oil pump might be worn and developing only marginal pressure. 4. Any of the transmission filters might be obstructed, lowering system pressure. There are three filters on this machine: suction, safety and primary (paper cartridge). 5. It's low on oil causing it to lag going into reverse, and then inducts air into the system preventing the clutch pack from properly locking up. 6. Possibly the shifter valve is not directing flow properly (and in full pressure) to the clutch pack in reverse. Possibly worn mechanism and not fully engaging in reverse? It would seem relatively unlikely that it would be 2, 3, or 4 otherwise it should be doing the same thing in forward. But still one or more of these may be contributing factors. Does the transmission pressure gauge work on the dash? When it's shifted into reverse or forward and the motor is up to speed the gauge should be in the green zone. If it isn't, especially while in reverse, then that tells you something is wrong in the reverse circuit or pressure is leaking out of the reverse clutch pack seal.
