Is it possible to put the intact track back on without undoing the track if I was to loosen the tension of the track and attempt to walkit back on like a bicycle chain and the retighten the tension afterward?

I always "reversed" my track back on without any adjustment. It would fall of, then I would go the other way and walk it back on. My H3 has a big spring keeping the track tight. I'd imagine when it went back over the idler, the spring compressed some. Yes, I did have problems with the track staying on. Turned out to be destroyed rear axle bearing.

The spring isn't what keeps the track tight. It's to absorb shock to the whole undercarriage and machine. Track adjuster keeps track at proper tension. Dave

Yes. You will need to use a come-a-long and/or some pry bars to help guide it back on. My neighbor had a track come off once and he had me drive a truck, with a chain attached to track, while he slowly drove forward. The truck was at an angle to pull the track over the idler. The looser you can get the track, the easier it is to put back on. It still sucks though but shouldn't have to split the track. Dave
