I have a 530 bobcat, it seems to have good lift power but driving it it powers down. This is especially bad going up hill. It still powers down on the level. It even really works to drive the wheels at full speed when jacked up. I really think this is a hydraulic problem but don"t know where to start. Ideas???

Make sure your air filter isn't plugged before you check anything else. Also replace the hydraulic filter and see if it improves. I rented a small Mustang once that was totally gutless. It didn't have enough H.P. but on top of that the air filter was almost completely plugged with concrete dust from the last rental. The filter indicator was red when I checked it and went red again after banging the filter on the tire for a while. When I returned it, the idiot there said it had a new filter put in but wouldn't come to look. I never went back there again. Dave

I don't know what vintage the 530 is, but I've had the same problem on my old 610, which has a variable sheave controlled by a hydraulic valve near the operators left hand. That valve would not stay in the high zone, but after installing a simple rebuild kit it works fine. Maybe you have something similar.
