There is an auction this weekend with a Farmall 240. According to Guy Fay's book, the 240 was made for a short while, being replaced by the 404, and is highly collectible. Is this so, and what do these beasts usually sell for?

there are many ways to view the situation..what condition tractor u want+what how much ur willing to part with..if ur a stickler for perfection like myself + can appreciate a mint restoration then spend ur money now..having done many frame off restos on 60's chevys as well as built many tractors+motorcycles I can tell u that ur lucky to recoup the cost of the parts let alone the many hrs of obsession..unless ur bored let someone else loose..i bought my mint 58 utility for 4 grand cdn with snow blade+chains only 1200 hrs,an extreemly tight, sound unit which i wouldn't sell for 6 US..like i said unless ur bored...i wld suspect up here u cld find one running ? for 25 to 3500 canadian...TRACTORS RULE what a rush to ride.

Picked up my Farmall 240 from a non collector for $1400.00. Excellent mechanical condition, fast hitch, mower and two bottom plow. Sheet metal and paint fair original condition. Nice smaller tractor, I use it to move snow and blade our 3/4 mile dirt road.

Made from 58 to 62. I do not know about highly collectible-I seem to see alot of them for sale.
I would say they go for about the same price as a super A. Steve

Oh the prices range according to condition. A parts tractor is worth about 700, and a totally restored one 3500. That is here in Colo., and everything is about 500 to 1000 more than the midwest. Steve

They didn't make many of the Farmall 240s- they made lots of the utility 240s.

bought a 240 utility about a year ago for $2000 looks a bit rough but works well.came with a back blade , loader , and already had 3pt conversion.seems to me that these tractors are to new for collecting but too old to be concidered modren. but it works for me just fine.
