I have a cracked head on my SMTA. Tried to get it repaired, but still leaks. The repair shop is working on it again. A buddy of mine said I waisted my time & money trying to get it repaired. I should have been looking for non-cracked head form the start. My question is can these cracked heads be repaired?

I have what the dealer called a recast head on my gas M for about 20 years. Keep anti freeze in it all year and have not had problems yet. Valve guides had shrunk due to the heat and needed to be reamed . I had the head magnifluxed and it shows cracks but it works fine.
