I'm looking at a '49 H and the owner is asking $4000. The tractor is in very-good to excellent condition. Doesn't appear to need much work. Fenders, lights, weights, straight, good paint, runs good. Is this price way out of line? Just being close to home and not in need of trucking is worth some money to me.

I am in the North East Kansas area and would expect to buy an H like that at maybe a little over $1500. I seen one sell a few years ago that was in mint condition but didn't have finders and still had stickers on new tires with new paint and overhaul for $1250. I have a 43 H right now that is all original, new paint, new tires, and mechanically sound but doesn't have finders or three point. It is not for sell but if I decided to sell it I would ask about $1200. That is the going rate in my area. With savings like that you could afford alot of shipping.

I bought an H 6 months ago from a guy who was very honest with me. He wanted $1700 for a 44 H and I knew that it was worth it. It did not have any implements with it. He could have got $2500 if he held out for months. For $4000 that tractor should come with a blade, disc, rear mower, new paint new engine, new tires, hydraulics. Offer him $2800 and go from there.

Mike $1,500-2,000 tops depending on how good the rubber is for central Indiana.

Here is a site that I use quite often when trying to determine a fair price when buying or selling equipment, I always try to consider them about the high price on the scale. Hope this helps, by the way this is in the central Pa. area

Mike, not unless it has a wide front , a good 3 point hitch( like a saginaw) and totally restored with all new tires , engine , paint , etc. other then this he is trying to rob you.

I would try to talk him down a little.Around my area(west central Ohio)$4000 is a little steep.I've seen restored H's sell for around $3000 many times.I bought my H with a McCormick model 31 loader on it for $1450,it needed front tires and a few minor other things, and a paint job,and was only 11 miles from home.BTW the guy delivered it for $50.
