Heyas,

Having a couple problems with my
MD. First, it no longer starts without
pouring gas into the intake. Also,
when running the choke can never be pushed
all the way in or it will stall. There
appears to be enough gas in the carb. I've tried covering the intake for extra
choke but that doesn't help it start.
Plus, I have blown air threw the carb
with the gun. I guess I have to take
the carb apart.

The other problem is blue smoke in diesel
mode. I've tried adjusting the timing. Now,
I am thinking maybe the injectors need to be replaced. I heard somewhere
that broken ones might let too much diesel
in or something. The engine has
all kinds of power and doesn't really smoke extra when under load.

Maybe your switch over linkage is not working. In diesel mode, the carburator float is locked up to prevent gas from flowing. Maybe the float is not releasing. Also, there are butterflys in the manifold that switch to let air flow through the carburator when yo switch to gas. I've found that my MD has to be completely warm before it will run on gas without the choke. I almost always switch to diesel before the choke can be turned completely off. Don't know about your blue smoke in diesel mode. The MDs will smoke some, especially under load but that would be more of a black smoke.
