Front end loader for MTA?

All,

If I ever find a Super MTA like I want, one thing I have thought about for it is a front end loader. I've seen an ad before in Red Power for new, I believe the brand is Koyker, front end loaders for M's, Super M's, MTA's, 400's, etc. Does anyone have any experience with these? What I'd like to know is how they mount to the tractor, how hard to put on/take off, hydraulic modifications necessary to run the loader, and if such a setup is really worth it or not. I do NOT want a wide front tractor, so I know I will have some limitations on the front end as well as stability issues. My plans are more for using this thing as an "extra hand" for lifting things and moving them short distances (I.E. pallets of seed on and off a truck) at slow speed.

What do you all think?
Al

You may be a little limited on hyd. capacity with the stock Lift-All Hyd. system. I have a modified Ford loader from the late 1950's on My Super H, It's very similar in design to the IH 2000/2001. I have a trip bucket and 2-1/2" X 30" cylinders, and I have to have the res. completely full to get full lift. The live 2-way power is nice when I use the blade in place of the bucket. With the SM-TA with Live PTO You could make a larger PTO driven hyd. system to run the loader. The Lift-all probably won't run the hyd. bucket unless You put really small cylinders on the loader. Then You won't have enough lift capacity. The narrow frt end will not be a problem with a loader, just carry loads low and be careful. Also, keep the frt rims set in the narrowest position on the frt wheels. I've just seen pic's of the Koyker loader but I imagine it fits all early row-crop tractors, is easy to mount and detach.

I understand the frame is a little longer on the SMTA vs the M or SM but I would think a loader that would fit on them would fit on the SMTA. I don't know anything about the one you mention. As far as hydraulics, most SMTAs came with a live hydraulic pump so it should be simple to hook up a loader. A friend of mine has a M with a Lyons INdustrila loader on it, he had a wide front end on it but due to steering problems and problems keeping the spindles from breaking, he went to a tricycle front end. Think you just have to watch loading on the corners whick is true even with wide front. I don't know if any loaders for these tractors went on and off quickly guess you'd just have to look. If you are loading pallets you want to get a full hydraulic instead of trip bucket.
