Thanks, Gary! This is a working tractor, never intended as a show piece. I originally bought it for parts for my other 240. Discovered I could get it running and things progressed from there. My 1960 240 wide front is all original and will be a restoration project some day. For now, both the red tractors have some farmin' left in their veins (guess I should say "hydraulic lines"). Since this tractor was destined for the scrapper, I still saved one for someone else to restore someday when my tractor fixing days are through. Thought the group might find another approach interesting at least.

Looks good to me. Is the hood made of metal or fiberglass? What did you use for a pattern? Plans might be a marketable item. Tha ks for sharing. Dick

Hood is sheet metal welded over angle iron frame. What are "plans"? Just kidding. This was a guess-as-you-go project. Since I had to start from scratch, thought I would eliminate all those aggravating panels you need to remove to get to the motor. I have two 240s and the other (bought new by my father in 1960) takes forever to get "unbuckled". I want to keep that tractor original. But, with the new hood on this one, just one latch and the whole front opens up. Real handy!
