Talked with an 80 yr old man that has a Famrall advertised for sale. Didn't know what model so I had him go out and look. He told me that the serial number was F418k...on the bell housing and 8272ddk620k by the seat. He told me he didn't look for the model number. It's a 1948 with a wide front and pto. He said it needs a manifold but should run fine: asking price is $350.00. Sounds to good to be true.

Neither one of those numbers jives as a serial number for a '48 Farmall. I'd suggest you go take a look for yourself. On the larger tractors, the S/N plate is on the bellhousing, left side as seated on tractor. On the C, it's on the right side of the seat support/toolbox. On the A/B it's on the left seat support (for the '48 model anyway). On the Cub, it's on the steering box on the right side. Left and right side on all tractors is as from the seat of the tractor.
In any event, $350.00 sounds like a great price, especially if it will run. Just be sure to check for a stuck engine!

Good luck,
Phil

ROLL TIDE!!!!

Thanks for the info, I intend to go look at it today. I brought some spay oil and spark plug wrench. I'll check to see if the engine will turn. I think it still has the crank on it.

I hope I have better luck with this than with my M last night...I caught the Alternator on fire...Smoked real good, glad I had the hood off or it would have messed up my new paint job.
