I am creating a prototype 3pt hitch for my M. I plan on using lift arms that are available from any farm store along with the leveling device used on many other tractors. Basically I will create a frame via square tubing, attach it to the axle, add additional support that leverages the drawbar assembly. I have a good design and intend to perfect it as I go. I plan on using two hydraulic cylinders. I will take pics as I go along. Shipping is outrageous from Sag. If it works out Y'all may want one for yourselves. I'd could send a few at cost, could even send it in kit form and you could supply the cylinders and lift arms available locally or from Northern or something. Let me know if there is any interest.

You suffer from the same disease I do, to wit: an urge to reinvent the wheel. Just bought a SC (my first full size tractor)and my first activity was to lay out the geometry for arms attached to the rocker shaft to drive a 3 point hitch. If you figure your time the cost of doing it yourself is far, far higher than buying something already "debugged". Of course if you are doing it for the satisfaction that's another matter. Good luck with your project. John (PS please don't take above as criticism-I suffer from the same impulse-built a sailboat many years ago, could have bought 3 if I included the value of the time, etc.)

If you kept looking you might find a saginaw on a farm sale like I did. I love it and it didn't cost shipping and all I need to do is make ne hoses. I put in on in about 4 hrs. on night after school.

If you would go to the site www.farmall-h.com site they have some pretty good pictures of a home made 3 pt. hitch in there somewhere. Can't remember where it is located but the hunt is pleasureable because it is a nice site.

I built a 3 point for my H, used 3"X3"X3/8" Angle iron, attached it to the existing draw bar and draw bar mounts, set it up to use 1 4" X 8" cylinder.
I bought the ball and socket ends for the lift arms and added the 3/4" X 2 1/2" barstock to make my own lift arms.
I bought the lift arm pins, ball and sockets, and other misc. hardware at my local John deere dealer (I know beat me with a stick), they were cheaper than any I could find any where else, and I didn't have to pay shipping or have to wait for them to arrive by mail.
I have not taken any pictures yet, nor have I had a chance to test the operation, that will have to wait till I get the engine back together.
Email me if you need any more specifics

I am interested in if nothing else getting feed back on how things work out first. I have thought about trying it myself but that time thing keeps getting in the way. Keep me posted!!

Make sure that you use heavy enough steel. I built a 3pt for a ford 8n. It worked great. When I hooked up a 1 bottom plow to it, and dropped it into the ground, it onlt took about ten feet of plowing to completely destroy about twenty hours of work. Good Luck It certainly can be done
