I have seen a picture with a 234 picker and I believe a 66 tractor (766). Has anyone out there run a rig like this? Were 706s ever used much for mtd. pickers, should have plenty of horsepower and built tough for heavy corn loads and hills. I doubt most guys now if still picking ear corn with a mtd. (NI or IH) would leave a more expensive tractor like a 706 or 766 tied up the year around with a picker. Most would use an old M or 400-450 and could afford to let it sit except at harvest, different than 30 yrs. ago when most smaller farmers had 2-3 tractors on the farm.

Used to run 234 with sheller on 706 german deisel. Once you had tractor set up, it only took about 15-20 minutes to put it on. There were several 234s on 966,856,706's in our neighborhood. We did about 300 acres of corn a year with this set-up.

I don't think not quite that fast. I had one for many years on a 560 and I did check the oil with the picker on..I didn't have time for any usless work.
