My late C's 123 engine is tired. I have a chance to pick up an engine from an IH275 swather, and I was thinking of rebuilding it and putting it in the C. Anybody ever have an experience with the swather motor in a "C"?

I found about 5 postings on the C153. Thanks for the tip. It doesn't sound like it would fit the C, but sure looks like a small engine sitting in the swather. It sure has high revs. Sounds like the whole machine will fly apart any second when cutting hay.

it won't fit. The 153 is about 2in. wider than the 123 and bolt holes are larger than the 123. A C-135 will fit. where are you located?

big diesel, did you happen to measure one out of a 504 tractor? i sold one this fall out of a 93 combine and as near as i could tell it measured the same as a farmall a or c . when the guy went to bolt it up to his farmall 504 it was about 2 inches narrow and he had to make an adapter plate . the original engine was a c153 and the combine engine was a c153

I put a 153 on a C and another one on a B. In short, they will bolt up. Your challenges will be, 1)pilot hole in the end of the crank, 2) air cleaner and exhaust through your hood problems and 3) cooling system, getting the fan to fit and getting the water inlet and outlets to work out.

Is it possible to find a bellhousing that will bolt up to a C153 engine out of a 230 swather?
I'm putting the engine into a forklift ande need a way to attach the hydrostat to the engine.
