Well fellas, I didn't get the tractor bought. A little dissappointed but not really, cause in my opinion it sold a little high. Again, it was a 1975 766D. I'd give it about a 6 on a 1-10 scale. Around 6000 hrs, motor had never been touched. Needed a seat, grill, paint and a couple of leaks fixed. Steering was pretty sloppy. I ran it to $8000 and bailled out, tractor sold for $8100. The Westendorf WL-42 loader with 8'bucket sold high too. Loader was 10 years old, but in excellent shape, it sold for $5200. Same guy bought both. How much are they new????
I guess tractors are like a bus.....ya miss one and onther one will come along huh? My wife says it's a good thing I didn't get it bought, cause now I can find a 3020????? Ouch! Can't believe she said that.

Should have driven to Gridley Kansas last week.

Watched a 756 in the same condition as you just described (fast hitch though) sell on the one and only bid of $2500.

The next 756 had a 3 point and only 3900 or so hours that the owner swore was right. It went for $5000 even but it also had a good GB loader on it.

I agree with Alan. $8100 is a bit on the steep side for a 766. I sold a decent one I picked up this past summer for $5000. I have seen a couple of 966 and 1066's going for around $5000 here in Western, Pa.

Yep,

Jump off your 966, on to that 766 and the lower lip will pooch out and tremble. Look closly and you'll discover a tear or two. :>)

Been all thru this loader deal in the past month or so.

A new loader will easily start at $7500 before you add the grapple attachment.

The 766D is kinda turning the way of the John Deere 4020 in that it is bringing wayyyyy y more than they are really worth just because there aren't many of 'em for sale. I fully expected to see your tractor fetch $10K.

Don't feel bad about lettin' it go to the other guy tho. They are a bit of a disappointment when you lean 'em into the tugs.

You can buy real decent 966s and 1066s in the $6K to $7K range.

Here's one that they've painted right over the grease and filth with a spray can. Needs to be steamed and repainted and a new muffler.

Might be able to pick it up for around $6K?
