Hal: yes, that was their warehouse in Port Townsend. I live about 45 minutes west of there around Sequim.
Hugh: nope, I didn't get a lecture. But then I didn't see Kim either. It's a good thing my ice skates are dull or I think I would've fallen through.

When i flew Intruders out of NAS Whidbey Island - way back when. We always counted on clear wheather over Sequim. The all winter overcast on Pudget sound made it tough to do 4 plane VFR formation flight training. Frequently we would proceed underneath to Sequim and then corkscrew climb our way up to good weather on top and got on with it. All of which was legal flying if you remained clear of clouds at all times. Major concern was the melting of a four plane corkscrewing up with a four palne corkscrewing down - could have spoilt a lotta airplanes. My nickel Dick Davis

Dick: there are several spoilt airplanes in the mountains around here. I know of one B17 in particular that I'd like to take a look at.

I flew in and worked on the EP-3E out of Whidbey up until March of last year. Now I'm at NAS Lemoore, but on shore duty and not currently flying.

Anyway, I didn't have the tractor bug back then. Now I wish I had just so I could have popped over to Port Townsend.

When I was flying the ALL-WEATHER interceptor (F4 Phantoms) we'ed just split up into two, two plane elements, bore straight up through the goo, and join up the four on top. One time on a fly-in to Cubi Point, Cag was leading 12 aircraft and he took the whole bunch of us down through about 8000 feet of slop. Talk about your pucker factor.

Thanks Chris, I used to salmon fish at Sequim, LaPush and Neah Bay when there were salmon to catch back in the 1960's and 1970's. Lot of good trips to your area. I think Sequim is now sort of favorite retirement place due to that beautiful winter weather you have - guess it is still that way. Have a good one and nice to hear from you, Hal.

Yep Hal, you wouldn't recognize the place. Some of my friends were plowing fields last year that are housing developments now. I live out by the Dungeness Spit, so I'm about ten miles from most of the construction. The land values (and taxes)have tripled in the past five years, so a lot of farmland is being sold for development. One farmer wanted to convert his fields to a golf course. The county said that a golf course was against zoning ordinances. The farmer asked the county if they would rather have another housing development. The county let him build the golf course.

Hugh: my joke mind is full tonight, but I have nothing that is fit to print on here. Maybe I can come up with something by Saturday night.
