Does any one have any insight into the operation of the 2424 PTO. There are leavers and knobs I don't have a clue what they do. There are 2 slide leavers near the seat on the right hand side (?). There's a clutch looking leaver below the seat on the right (?). There are 2 knobs behind your legs on the left and right (?). and there's a leaver on the left below the seat (?).

Any help will be appreciated, this is my first tractor.

2424 Differential fill plug in reply to Rob Foate, 02-23-2007 12:31:32
Does anyone tell me where the differential fill plug is on the 2424 tractor. Had to replace a pin in the shift lever and drained about 2 gallons of oil. Is the oil the same used in the hydralic resevoir? The fill plug on the real right (behind the seat) looks full.

Thanks to everyone who responded, I'm glad theirs a good basis of knowledge for the 2424. I definately need to get a operators manual, but the direction I recieved so far will get me going.

Any recommendation on a operators manual (book #)?

Doc's correct! About the clutch. My doesn't have a two-stage clutch nor is it listed in the manual.

First I would recommend getting an operators manual. good investment.

You have to hold down the clutch hard and operate the lever on ehr left side.

The 2 levers on the right are for the 3 point, one is draft control and one is position.

The two levers in the middle below you legs are for the hydraulic remotes.

You have a 2 stage clutch pushing it down most of the way disengages the engine from the transmission, but the pto does not stop/release until you push the clutch to the floor.

The leaver on the left works in conjunction with the clutch (thanks), but what does it do? What does it do in the up or down position. What are the remotes? Any info on the foot pedal on the right side of the seat.

thanks for the info so far, I"m in the process of looking for a operators manual, but anxious to get tractoring.

I second the first advise, purchase an Operators Manual. Right off this sites links or ebay.
The lever on the left engages your PTO (the spined shaft sticking out of the rear).
Remotes are: the hydraulic hook-up for different implements. Normally two couplers or snaptites that except the hoses.
The front pedals on the right are your brakes with a divider in the middle so you can run them seperately for turning ratio.
The rear pedal on the right is a differential lock for the axles. Stepping down on it locks both right & left axle for pulling, soft environment or worming out after getting stuck. Re-engage it to unlock.

Small foot pedal on the right is a differential lock.

The lever on the left engages the PTO when moved to the back. I'm a little confused when you say up and down on this lever....

My 2424 doesn't have a two-stage clutch, and I don't think there is any mention of one in the owner's manual.
