I have a B275 and the oil level keeps rising. I changed the oil seal on the hydralic pump but that didn't work. Could it be diesel from the injector pump?

I wouldnt be too quick to jump on the pump. I have an MD that everybody said it HAS to be the inj pump, they always leaked through the pump to the crankcase eventually. I spent the cash to get the pump fixed and what do you know WRONG! Two and three injectors were messed up and that is where the fuel is coming from.

Hi Jack, never worked on B275 but I think it is the same setup as B414D where there is a fuel pump on the right side of the engine block. This fuel pump has a diaphragm in it and it will crack over time or if there are any ice crystals from water in the fuel it will punch a hole in the diaphragm and cause Diesel fuel to leak into the crankcase.

A replacement diaphragm was available from CIH.

Good luck

If the oil isn't cloudy and you don't have any water or antifreeze dripping out the drain plug when you loosen it, you can be fairly certain the trouble is elsewhere, i.e. hyd oil or fuel.

Hi Jack. I dont know much about B 275 Is there a chance your tractor has been hot? If so sealing rings on sleeves(if B 275 has sleeves)could be burned thus allowing water to seep into crankcase. Just thinking out loud.

Both are still possible. Resealing a Hyd pump can be uncretain. Was there a groove in the shaft, and was the clearance checked on the end bearings (if any) I would place some on a piece of printer paper and see if it spreads fast. Then take some diesel and mix it witl your (new) oil at about 1:15 ratio and see how that spreads.

One last item, is the Hydro oil disappearing? JimN

I don't have any water in the crank case. I didn't over heat the tractor. Sound like the best idea is to use a piece of paper and see how fast the oil spot spreads to see if hydraulic oil or diesel that's getting in the crank case. Do you think if I leave the fuel valve on when I park the tractor,it could be leaking through the pump to the crank case?

Very possible, but I would think you could smell a diesel oil smell from the dip stick if that is the case.

Lsat time it happened, little over a quart leaked in and I couldn't smell if it was diesel.
