Hi Guys...My "47 M has the old M&W live hydraulic pump, and it gets kinda slow when she gets hot. Does anyone know if there is a replaceable pressure relief spring or valve available for the old gal? I"ve never had these pumps apart, nor can I locate an exploded veiw of thse units. I"m not holdin" my breath, You just never know until you ask. Any info is appreciated...Thanks...Randy

Thanks Dude...That's a good idea, a compromise between the two oils. Think I'll give that a try.

Hi Randy,

I have a M&W live pump on my H, and I run Straight 20W oil in it.... Been doing this, for abt 5 years now and works good, sunner or winter.

LOL, not 5 years straight, I change it every Spring.

Thanx!

FD

Thanks for the replys, I know that Hytran thins down to water when hot...on that line of thinking, is it possible to mix Hytran and straight 30w or is that not advisable? The pump had no play or slop when I installed it 4 years ago...worked real good the first two years, but has gotten gradually worse the last two.

I see no reason not to try that. The best would be a 20-40 non detergent, but that might be impossible to find. JimN

Thicker Hydraulic oil may disguise the worn pump for a while. There are thicker oils than Hytran.

sounds like the pump might be worn as well. When the oil gets warm it thins ou and is able to bypass the gears in the pump alot easier.
