Does this seem a little fishy to anyone else???
I've heard that ebay has been having some security issues, and it looks like someone has gotten into their account and listed a bunch of bogus items, all one day auctions, all $100 start and paypal only. Of course if i'm wrong, i guess i'll miss out on one heck of a deal.

That particular tractor is a SCAM. It's been posted by different ebay accounts for weeks now.

What you folks need to understand is I have been an E-bay user since 1999 and never had a serious problem. I have 100% feedback on every sale or purchace I have made, Any precaution you can come up with I have taken. In an instant all of that has been thrown out the window. I have met a couple of guys thru E-bay that I trust and they have helped me out. The majority don't have a clue what they are selling. I realize that's the way it is. What is troubling me at the moment is how after eight years can my account be so compromised. I don't respond very often on this site but I do check in every night, I don't always agree with you guys but I do respect your opinions.

I think you fell for a scam too. If you clicked on the link in the email to go change your password, you definitely got scammed.

Ebay will NEVER contact you by email to tell you your account has been compromised like that. At the very least, they will not provide you a link to click on. They will tell you to MANUALLY go to the ebay website and change your password.

It really sucks, but Mayberry is long gone. It's there but you just have to keep checking to make sure you're in the right place. Identy theft is alive and well, and if the worse that happens to you is someone listing something on your ebay account is the worst that happens, you're the lucky one. There's a lot of good info out there (just google it) to help you avoid a disaster.

Best of luck...
Dave

The last ten days have been an e-bay nightmare for me. E-bay e-mailed me ten days ago and told me an unauthorized person had accessed my acount and listed several items under my account but I need not worry they had discovered I did not list the items. E-bay told me to change my password and everything would be fine. I changed my password and three days later someone listed ten cars in my name. I am having trouble getting in touch with E-bay. As far as I'm concerned E-bay can kiss my a%#

Hydro. You got scammed with a phony message that was not from ebay. Now someone else is using your name with a new password. The reason you can;t talk to ebay is that your account has a new password and you don;t know it. When you login, you are logging in to the scammers url not ebay. You need to create a NEW account name and password, then tell ebay your problem. Get them to close that bogus account.

i ignore those emails usually. most of the time they are actually the scammers phishing you!
NEVER click on the link given in the email, it might say ebay. com, but is really a hyperlink to ujustgotscrewed . com, where they record the name and password you type in and use it to harm you. they are pretty good at appearing to be the real website too.

ALWAYS log in from a new blank browser window that you manually type the address in.

*frequently change your password, but not from linking to a website within an email or another page.

e bay and pay pal have a few of their own problems, but i'd say 90% of them come from bad people hurting others thru phising and other means. just be smart...which online means trust no one! (unfortunately)

This same unit has been listed on E-bay several dozen times each week. Got a scam going here.

Looks like a scam to me. The items are located all over the country to boot. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, its probably a duck!

A few dudes over here made themselves real rich selling sports cars through ebay. Not doing them much good now, but the same people they ripped off are paying their way for the next few years. A couple of folks can ruin things for everyone. Sometimes you can get a picture of what you are dealing with by checking out feedback.
If you advertise stuff, beware of people that seem to jump on whatever you're selling and usually want to pay with a cashier check at pickup. The idea there is someone shows up with a check for alot more than the price and you give them the difference in cash. Everyone is happy until the check bounces and you are out the cash and merchandise (which is usually dumped).
Good Luck

I would NEVER accept a check at pickup. All payments must clear before pickup can occur =)

You'd be surprised at the people who jump on the offer. A guy over here "sold" a horse for a bunch more than it was worth. The transaction was entirely by email until the "agent" showed up with a bank draft for 2000 Euro more than the agreed price. He was told that the agent had no local currency and needed the 2000 bucks cash to cover return expenses. They understood that it was a great inconvenience and finally said that they could get by with 1000 (he could keep the other 1000 for the inconvenience and his cooperation). He got his horse back a few days later (it was turned loose at the border to Poland). He learned an expensive lesson.
