rear seal 301 engine, ????

I bought a 301 eng and rear seal was leaking, it looks like it was in backwards. have book but dont say which way to put in, i put it in with spring on inside and lip facing in, believe who overhauled eng put it in backwards, hate to put the tractor backtogether and it leaks. boy that flywheel sure is heavy sure i did it right but like comments on it, thank you from ohio.

ok the seal is in right, in was in another book i had for lip to go in, throwed me off being in backwards when i took it apart, pushing 70 and get kind of tired sometimes, time for a nap lol
