Hey all, I need new tires on my 1940 H farmall and have access to one new 15.5-38. I also have rims from a MD that currently have 13.5-38's on them available for use. My question is will the 15.5 fit on the MD rim and if so will a pair of 15.5-38's be too hard on a H? Unfortunatly a new pair of the original tires is out of my price range.
Thanks

I have 15.5"s on my "49 M, but I am actually looking to go down a size. The engine was rebuilt, so its actually similar to a Super M in the HP department, but those tires are awfully pinched down to fit on the rims. I would rather have some 14.9"s or 13.6"s, even if the tractor cna handle turning the wider tires.

Then again, free is a hard price to beat...

Like others said those are little big, however what are planning on using the H for? If you just want it for parades or light duty tedding or raking I think that would be ok, It would kinda be hard on her for heavy tillage in such.

It will be used for pulling hay racks and lots of plowing snow. (At least as of late in central mn)

I personaly dont think that would be to hard on it. I think you could do all right with that setup. Andrew

The name of the game in snowplowing is narrow tires. It all relates to ground pressure. That's why the old Oshlosh and Walters used four tires instead of six.

Only if you are using chains will the bigger tires be a benefit. Even then you will need some ballast to increase the ground pressure so the chains will bite.

Check with a local AG-Coop. The tires used on pivots will also work on your 38" H rims; at an attractive price.

Yes they are thin and kind of small, but if you are not plowing with the thing, they will work fine.

The 15.5s will fit on the MD rims but I think they will over load your tractor It takes a lot more power to handle those bigger tires.
