here' another way for you guys to feel better about getting ripped off when you have to buy your fuel, [ and thats exactly what it is, a rip off] i drive a truck for a living, i also own the truck, last night it cost me 379.00 to top off my tanks, [ i had a half tank when i got to the fuel pump] monday nite it will cost the same or more, i figure im workin for about .75 per hour now

$2.69 per for diesel here in Colorado. I leave the 2001 F-350 powerstroke in the garage unless I need to Denver or to pull a trailer. The 91 Mits. pickup gets 30 + and fits in every parking space. I just won't drive it in heavy traffic. THe jerks in the metro area pay attention To my Crew cab. Tallperson

Tell me about it. Just bought a brandy-new truck that'll get MAYBE 14mpg, and gas jumps dang near a quarter.

Sigh.

Fortunately, I don't HAVE to drive the truck unless I need it, but I sure was looking forward to riding around in a new truck in which everything works instead of my 20 year old beater...(which gets maybe 19 or 20)

Well I paid $2.28 for regular yesterday (Montana). I drive my beater 94 Saturn at 40 mpg to work and back, the truck sits unless I need to haul something or show the old gal a good time in town (ha!)
The truck (2004 Silverado 1/2 ton 4x4 xt cab, 5.3 L) gets 21 mpg highway (empty) if I can keep my foot out of it.

About 2.50 for diesel at the Flying J. I have to do a lot of driving. I use the Duramax and one helpful tool is slow down. I can pick up about 5 mpg by dropping to 55 from 65 - 70. It's got the makings of an expensive summer. The "greedy boys" have sent the signal.

Three and half years ago when I no longer needed the truck, I sold it and replaced with a small car. I have averaged 42 mpg over the last 20k miles and have only regretted selling the truck once. I made friends with trucks that let me borrow them once in a while or they just plain help me out.... and now we bought a mini-van that can haul just about as much as a truck and doubles as one heck of a people hauler.

I "heart" my Hondas!

Fuel was $2.39 when I drove by the station this afternoon - that's the cheapie, Mobil and Chevron are at $2.64 and people still fill up there!

2.60/gal in E SD. I bought a 97 4 cyl 16Valve Geo Tracker last year for 3000 dollars. 4wd so it's great for two hunters. Trips to town and up to 100 miles away. It gets 30 mpg and I put 10 gallons in it twice a month. The DOdge Cummins hasn't been out of the shop since October.

We went to the sunoco in Brooklyn and paid $2.55. If you want an economical car we have a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta Turbo Diesel that gets 50 miles a gallon. It isn't ready to be sold yet because the previous owner neglected to change the timing belt. We have to take off the head and check out the valves, but other than that it is MINT! Going to go look at that John Deere B and Farmall H tommorrow.

I guess all you can do with the gas prices is grin and bear it :( It really makes you think that only like 8 years ago it was 1.40 a gallon and now double that! It really makes ya think. I wish I could park my truck but I have to go 50 miles each day, and I get 13miles a gallon = Im getting screwed. Maybe its time to look for one of those little 4cyl :(

I didn't buy a truck for that very reason. I bought a 4cyl Subaru wagon.

I'm going to have a heck of a time pulling my H. :)

Colchester, IL 2.499 I am a rural mail carrier, so don"t have any choice but to pay the price. We are currently working without a new contract, one of the big sticking points was our equipment maintainance allowance. We get reimbursed less per mile than postmasters or any other non rural carrier personell. Our last EMA adjustment actally went down 4.5 cents per mile, as gas and other expenses are going up.

The best thing you can do to improve fuel mileage and fight high prices at the same time is to just park that truck, and while you're at it, park the car also. If the trip isn't necessary, don't get the keys out of your pocket.

Rich, heard it went up to $2.399 yesterday in Rolla. I try and only get out a couple times a week as I have enough to do here on the farm. Still have a lot of ice damage around here to clean up so that keeps me busy. Hal

I paid $2.45 for regular on wednesday when I filled up in northeren Vermont. My '96 Chevy 1/2 ton 4x4 pickup with the 4.3L V6 only averages a lousy 14mpg. If I didn't find myself needing 4x4 and trailer towing, I'd get rid of it for a Honda that gets 50mpg, but 4x4 pickups and fuel economy is not something that goes hand in hand, you can either have one or the other. The prediction is if we go to war with Iran, the price of gas will go a little over $6 a gallon, because the Iranians will see to it that they cut off shipments of oil to the U.S, lets hope that never happens.

$2.55 gallon and diesel about 40 cents more. That's what the soldiers and DA civilians pay. The Germans pay about $6 a gallon for gas and $5 for diesel. I bought an F250 4x4 real cheap from a German.

0-50 in about 20 minutes is one way to save gas.
