I have a 1206 with a noisy right side final drive. I"ve known quite a few 806 owners who say they have seen the same thing. Anyone out there seen this or tried to fix it? I"m worried about spending a bunch of money on new bull pinions and gears and not solving the problem.

Hi, When my 856 had about 10,000 hrs it was getting noisy, turned the bull gears around, swapped the brake pinions from one side to the other, put in new axle and pinion bearings. Cost less than 500 bucks, have put more than 6000 hrs on it since. Now the only time you can hear it is with a heavy load pushing down hill. Good luck, Chuck

Your topic made me wonder why we haven't heard from Tractor Vet lately. Anybody have any news on him and how his house remodeling is going?

I am around but have not seen any real problems that i was needed for as most that has been on here is the usual stuff that ya'll can handel . Now as for the 1206 problem since it is only the right side i would be looken at maybe bearings or unusual gear wear if both sides were doing it then i would try and swap out the left to right lot of work but does fix the problem most times . Now also it amy not be the bull gears as it also could be noise from the lower counter shaft in the speed transmission telegraphen back tru.

Have you jacked up the wheel to see if theirs any play in the axle shaft in and out and up and down.If inside bearing is loose or out the bull gear can rub on the inside houseing and grind away the houseing.
