I was with my father today over a guys place and he had a bunch of used cars and other junk around. and on the side of the lot was a old F-20 made in mid 1937. Engine was tight but saw no visible cracks on the outside. The tractor was complete with good factory rims (usable rear rubber) all the way around with really nice spoked fronts. I looked over the tractor and it was mostly there. Carb, mag (not the IH one tho)new manifold the governor moved free, good seat and spring, belt pully and steering was tight, and tranny shifted and crank start, draw bar in fair shape. The one thing that really drew my attetion was that it had the factory foot breaks. That must mean that this was a latter F-20 im not sure, I dont really know a whole lot about the F series. Are parts still out there and are they worth getting running? They seem like they would be fun to work on or are they a pain? I mostly deal with the letter series and have not really worked on the F series.

Thank you all for the help

Andrew

Where was that F-20 you found? I don't know a whole lot about them, but they had manually oiled valve trains and at least the earlier ones had splash lubrication. If it is not priced too high I would get it or if you don't want it I might be interested in taking a look at it.

Sounds like a pretty nice old F20. If not too far from Illinois, I would be tempted to try to buy for the rear tires alone if indeed are in good shape. Let me know where and how much if you don"t want. Might take me a while before able to haul again, I have issues with DOT, NHTSA, Etc, regarding my three axle trailer. Puts me over 26K GCW even though NEVER haul anything over 10K on the trailer.

F20? Parts - I got mine from Rice equipment in Pennsylvania. Foot brakes? 1938/1939?, retrofit possible to earlier. Basic tractor, no real wierd things to figure out, crankshaft has 2 big ball bearings. Get a small pull type 2bottom plow and 8 foot disk, work up a garden. between f20, regular, 10-20 there were about 250,000 made- same basic engine. RN
