Last fall I approached a older farmer in my area and asked him about a IH dik that he had sitting along with a lot of other old rusty equipment. The man said that a junk man had bothered him so much that he had run the guy off of his place. I told him that I was not a junk dealer, and that I was looking for a disk to use with my Super M at plow days and maybe around the home place. The old guy said that he thought that the disk was a #37, or a #370 but did not know how to tell the difference between the two. He went on to say that the junk man only wanted to give him $20.oo for it. He said that it would sit there and rust away before he sold it for scrap, as it was still in good working order. The guy said that he would sell it to me for $75.oo if I really wanted it. Without any hesitation I said that I would take it. He went into a shed and came out with a 3X8 hyd cylinder for it, and said you might as well take this too. I cleaned up that old disk and repainted it. The old farmer came to see it and told me to come back to his place and see if there was anything else that I may want. I went back and asked him about a IH #31 loader that was with the stuff. He said what the heck do you want that peice of junk for it's got a trip bucket on it. I told him that I wanted it to use with blade for pushing snow. He said there is a blade for it down by the woods. You can have all of it for $50.oo if you want it. I bought it too, sometimes it does pay off when you don't offend people or bother them.
