I have a 1945 w-4,the book shows small freeze plugs on each side of tower to keep pin from coming out of shifter, any ideas on how to keep freeze plugs in place, if they are not in place when you shift it the pins will start to move out, previous owner had a hose clamp around it. thanks joe

Usually on a tractor of that age you will find the holes in the tower are worn. This allows the pin to move and push the soft plugs out. Also between the wear on the end of the shift lever & extra movement up down from worn pin & holes, gets in 2 gears. Take a 7/16"x 3" hex head bolt. Taper the head of the bolt and one edge of the nut. Will center in the outside of hole , and tighten everything up.

Put some dental cement on them. I would use just a little dab on them in case you need to remove them. Hal
