Scott, we always roll away the front. Some people have made splitting stands with wheels that bolt to the clutch housing where the 4 holes are for a loader frame and then roll the rear away. We always block rear wheels solid, put the bottle jack under the rear and then 4x4 cribbing under rear just in case bottle jack tips over. Then again using 4x4 cribbing and 2" planking on top of 4x4 to make a floor for the floor jack to move on. Now someone on this forum suggested that they used a pallet truck and several pallets stacked on top of each other to reach the oil pan. Run the pallet truck in between the front wheels lift and roll apart. Be sure to wedge blocks between front axle and casting to stop engine part from tilting left or right.

BE VERY CAREFULL. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE BOTH PARTS SECURED IN 2 WAYS TO PREVENT DAMAGE AND INJURY.

Good luck

Hi Scott, have changed clutch on 454 twice and 495 once. These are same as 484 just older and newer models. Relativly easy to do. Require proper bottle and floor jacks and supports to split.
May require flywheel to be turned. Replace clutch with HD clutch from 684 with 6 pads, throwout and release bearings. Drive wooden wedges between front axle and casting to keep front end from tipping while split.

BE VERY CAREFUL AS THE SECTIONS OF THE TRACTOR ARE HEAVY AND CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY.

If you search archives you can find instructions to slpit this tractor under 454 or 684.
