Well Phooey!

Got my little condenser motors and fans all mounted and in; got 'em powered up and they run great. Power to the compressor. Temp control kicks compressor on and off as it should.

Tried to fill 'er with soup. No go.

Yukon needs a drink too, so tried to fill that rascal up also. No go;won't take the soup.

'Spose 57 degrees is just too darned cold to trip that expansion valve or do I have a bad filling tool?

Groan!

Allan

Allan, yesterday a.m. my reference to snooze button followed a comment about someone"s post of a comfy...for a days work, thus my crack-wise about the snooze button--> big black knob at base of cab window. I don"t understand you needing air conditioning. Why not get a government worker exchange program going, you do field work for Hugh (cooler climate) he crosses the border wearing his shorts, which by the way, I can"t seem to find a picture of, problem solved. Now about this evacuation thing, remember to push down on the chrome lever, wash your hands and turn off the light. That always works for me :^)...yup, some days I just can"t help myself.

Allen, Not sure how your system is, but moms system in her car, requires some charge before the system kicks the compressor clutch on. We made an evacuation system with an old industrial refrigerator compressor dad got from Copeland. Worked pretty well in mom's sytem. We had the A/C apart for about a week, then used that to evacuate it.

In my experiences refilling systems, the colder it is out, the longer it takes the gas to evaporate and go into the low side lines. You can try heating the cannister up to accelerate the process. Also, not sure how your inputs are, but make sure whatever u use to hookup and dump the refrigerant into the system properly depresses the schrader valves, or else there will be no flow.

57 is on the cool side for 134A .At that temp I would put the can in warm to hot water and run heater at high temp. Of course best to use changing machine!

what was the low side pressure, was the compressor running? did you evacuate the system?
if you evacuate the system you can shoot it all in on the high side by inverting the bottle. quick easy and safe for the system and you. just watch the scales the bottle is on and when the right amount of freon has been put in shut your gauges. if the system has no pressure it probably won't run unless you jump the compressor. it's not necessary if you shoot it in on high side after evacuate
