Hi all, I have kind of a dumb question. Which way is the proper direction for the front / rear engine seals and also others like those that go for the distributor and such. I use to know, but can't remember. Can't remember if small spring that is behind seal edge goes towards oil or out. I thought it was towards. thanks!!

"Garter Spring" side goes toward fluid being sealed in.

Bob's short answer says it all; the seal lip and/or "garter spring" goes toward the fluid you are trying to keep inside. mike
