I am loking for an engine block and need to know if a c-169/c-175 out of a utility is the same as one from a row crop. If anyone has one priced reasonably please e-mail. I am located in Kansas but would drive a ways if the right deal comes along.

I'm currently doing a swap from a severly stuck C152 in a 1947 I-4 road roller conversion to a C169 short block from an unknown year 300U.

There are significant differences in the front timing covers and how they mount the engines in the tractor as there will be with your row crop.

I'm also finding the 300U's engine has different size bolts attaching the timing cover to the block. The hole pattern is the same and there may or may not be dowel pins, but 7 or 8 of the holes in the 300 block's face are 1/2NC instead of 3/8NC.

It's being a hiccup for me, but not anything insurmountable. After looking em all over side by side in pieces, I'm saying it definitely can be done.

I don't know if they will interchange or not but do know that Mike at Steel Wheel Ranch in Everest Ks (785-548-7437) did have a block about a month and a half ago. You might also check with Stauffer salvage south of Holton Ks (785-966-2739)

CGtractor...randy is misinformed. I have both and the blocks will not interchange. The block for the 300 Utility is 361 552 R1, The block for the 300 Farmall is 364 265 R1
