I just bought a 1566. Lights did not work.
Replaced the 20A fuse in the cab, the big fuse under the right side of cab, the bulb for the transmission 'tellite', and the backlight bulb for oil pressure gauge.

What works now: all gauges, transm. 'tellite', cigarette lighter, dome light. Tractor starts well and runs well.

Does not work: any lights (outside) or the instrument panel backlights work. Checked the power to the outside lights with voltmeter - nothing, tried all four positions of the switch.

Replaced the fuse inside the cab and one of the two big fuses under the right side of the cab.

Where do I start looking??? Thanks Andre

I would start by checking for a disconnected wire feeding the light switch, or a break in the wire. The fuse holders had a bad habit of melting fuses due to high resistance. This is why the circuit breakers were used to replace the fuse holders. Check again for voltage at the fuseholder. Check out the on-off switch also. This is very easy to tell how to check things out. Another thing entirely to get to the switches & wire looms & connections. Good luck.

From the factory, that circuit runs from the dash fuse, to the light switch and from there out to ALL the lights including the panel lights.

Nothing is fused via the cab circuit breakers.

Problem is "usually" the light switch and the first place you should look.

However, I've also seen a lot of 'em where the owner will bypass that dash fuse and wire in a circuit breaker right behind the left instrument panel to feed that light switch.

Thanks, I will start looking there.

What are the under-cab circuit breakers used for?

I tried to measure the voltage on them (connecting one probe to the terminal of the breaker and the other to chassis) and nothing.

Their main purpose is for the condenser fans, blower motor and the compressor clutch.

They also feed the junction block in the roof, which in turn run the other accessories.
