My view it does look like diaphram operated. Which would make the exhaust theory right. But I have never seen,I have heard of, that assist.

That is the mechanism that released the lever on the exhaust or pneumatic lift control lever on the A and B Farmall. When the implement reached the up position the pressure went into this and that prong which held the control lever back lifted and released the lever back to the neutral position. I started cultivating with a B in 1941 when I was 9 years old.

I suspect Brad is right about the lift. I have never had one with the erxhaust lift on it. Like I said I was guessing to start with.

I'm pretty sure it is a piece that works with the exhaust lift adjustment lever for early A's. If you want to get rid of it send me an email, I've been looking for one. The hole is where the early style magneto kill switch was mounted.

How dose it work? When Igot the A all the hoses was gone off the the lift. So I have no clue how it all gets put back.

Send me an email and I'll scan the operators manual for you that shows how its connected. I've got a 1940 and a 1947 A both with exhaust lifts but they both have the later style adjustment levers on them.

Its on the thing that holds the steering wheel I cant think of what it is calld all I can think of is the curvd thing that has the sterring wheel on it lol

Check row planter uses stakes and a spool of wire with knots on it to plant corn in a pattern that allows cultivation from any direction. no matter where you look across the field rows will line up. You didn't get many plants per acre this way. I am not sure that is what you have as I am not to familur with these. I have a check row planter for a C but don't have all the pieces.

I have a check row planter for my Super C. The trip mechanism for the planter is right down on the planter. The wire runs under the left axle. I have never seen the item in the picture but it doesn't look any thing like my planter. I would go out on a limb and suggest the exhaust lift.

Yes I think it is for the lift now after Brad mentioned it as I said it was a guess. It didn't look like anything on my planter either but I don't know what may have been on an A or B. I dont have all the parts to my planter. It is really a HM planter with an adapter to make it work on a C. I am missing the spool and all related parts to it. The reason I thought it may have been a planter part is that the spool and some of the parts for a front mount C planter mount on the tractor and I don't know what they look like.
