are wd-9,s supposed to have a lever to switch the diesel over to the system and pull it down when ready from gas running,
I drove a 52 model, and it had the lever on it, and I was looking at other,s and saw they switched over to diesel by them selves after a good warm up on gas,
Like d the shifter alot better, alot more positive, to work with,

The WD-9 is also hard on the rear main bearing.

Ohh Mann, i dont think I want a tractor like that, even though it's tempting to get,
It would be a serious glitch later on with that problem,
Kirk,

Wd-9's ALL have the lever to switch them to diesel. And as far as the miss, If one is running right it will have almost a lope to it. A miss could be alot of things besides a cracked head.

I have been around two of them but it has been years ago, but I remember them switching on ther own. I will see if I can find out how they do it.

Hi, The starter switch on the WD9 should be on the starter operated by a control rod, anything else has probably been modified. If these old diesels miss you should always be suspious of a cracked head unless you can find another cause. The gas-diesel control lever is on the left, looks just like the throttle lever on the right, they never made a diesel which switched itself. I have run a WD9 for forty years, be happy to help, Chuck

Hi Chuck,
Yea I had it running, and I pushed the lever down to put it to diesel,
It labored a little bit, then It went to running good on 4 pot's then It was ok,
i dont think it was a cracked head as it would be alot worse than that, and really labor alot, so,,, i think it's just an injector problem,
I rpmd it up and then it went to diesel then it was ok,
It had some smoke, on gas but it was just warming up,
Boyy waht a stud horse to be sure, man i like driving it alot better than my w-6,
it has hydralics too, so i liked that alot too, Kirk,
