Our old 110 JD has been sitting in the shed for years. Since we got the MTD, it hasnt been used. The mower deck has some rust holes in it. I've already relubed all the bearings. Going to patch the deck up and re-enforce it where necessary so we have a backup mower. I am electrolysisly cleaning the deck as we speak and plan to paint it. Thing is I'm not spending any money on it. Dad got about a gallon of Orange Sherbert paint on clearance a while ago. Its good quality paint, but its ORANGE SHERBERT!! I plan on using that for the deck. Dont have any yellow unfortunately. HEHE

Now I cant say anything bad about deere (the old ones anyways). This mower is from the late 50's and still runs like a champ. Got a kohler 8 horse that would blow away most "12.5" HP engines on the market today. You can just tell they rate these new engine for poop when they try to get every last .5 horse into the actual rating. The tractor itself is in decent shape for its age. The deck has been fixed a few times, but I dont think its been painted properly afterwards. I hope to get some pics when its done. It sure should look ridiculous, but at least it wont rust away, heh.

I was just now surfing through Craigslist, and saw a 110 listed for sale. They were asking $1,000.

yeah a bit much. around here in decent shape which i will consider mine after i fix the deck is around 400$. They are great running machines!! We only ever stopped using it cause the deck spindle bearings were noisy and there was a couple of holes rusted through it. You can ind the deck new anymore, they are on ebay every now and then and they sell between 50 and 200 depending on condition and location (usually local pickup only).

Let just hope I can weld this thin metal with a stick welder, i got some 1.16th inch rods, so I'll give it a go, if Its horrible, I'll see if my friend can do it, his got a mig

Reminds me of that song:

"I worked ten hours on a John Deere Tractor,
Never could get it to run."

"This mower is from the late 50's and still runs like a champ."

NOT QUITE!

The "110's" came out in 1963.

And, you're not "disgracing" it by painting part of it orange....

DEERE did that them selves (although NOT the deck) in the "Patio Series", made from 1969 through 1971.
