Have you all heard this. What is wrong? I can't see why anyone would just start shooting at folks they probably don't even know. The last I heard there were 28 to 30 dead.

Was a shooting here in SLC at a mall, off duty cop intervened and pinned the guy down until swat showed up. Killing limited to 5 instead of who knows, mall was full of people and shooter had shotgun and lots of ammo. Not always hand gun or Uzzi. One of the first things Hitler did in 1939 was to outlaw ALL guns not carried by police or military "for the safety of the people."

Anyone that thinks taking guns away from law abiding citizens is the answer are plum silly. I am glad our founding fathers were smart enough to realize this. Here in Ky a candidate for governor who had a good lead in the polls came out in favor of gun control after the school shooting in western Ky and used a survivor as a spokesperson. Had he not done this he would have won, but by favoring gun control he lost by one of the largest margins in recent history. I can't believe people are so stupid that they think we should surrendor our guns, and leave the outlaws armed. They will not give up theirs and neither will I.

I am all for guns goerge. I feel they shouldnt be concealed tho. If those people walked in and seen 20 people with guns in holsters, they'd probly turn around and walk out. concealed or not, guns do protect people when used properly and by the right people!!
I'm not one to carry a gun, but some would call me a pansy. I just know my luck, I'd shoot myself in the groin, haha

To outlaw guns is absolutely assinine!! odds are the suspect did not legally own the weapons he used, so what good does it do to outlaw them?

Its sad, no reason for it!! One of my bosses son attends & was in the same bldg. just down the hall. He was lucky but his friend was killed. There will be no justice in this case for the victims or their families.

Gene hit the nail right on the head. As long as the law abiding citizen can't legally carry a weapon to defend themselves this kind of thing will continue. At last count I have 14 guns in the cabinet (most of them have been in the family for generations) and they will never get them from me.
And yes Gene this will give the NAZIS some more ammunition to try and pry the guns from us. Just hang in there and hang on to your personal property.

33 dead last i heard and appx 20 injured, about half are still critical.

It doesnt matter if guns are laying on the roadside or if they are outlawed, criminals will get them underground off the blackmarket. Try outlawing that, it wont work.

I'm not one to carry around a gun, nor do I advocate it or like being around them. However if a repsonible person wants to safely carry one far be it from me to say they cant. Just be responsible with gun locks and so on around kids and when you're around me, I dont wanna die just yet!!

I feel for the families, it must be hard, espeically the students there. They havent released the identity of the shooter(s) yet, but it should be interesting when it all comes out.

This is the deadliest college campus shooting, far surpassing the 14 in the 70s (i think). Its just horrible.

Yes, it will just give the gun control Naz-s more ammunition to try to outlaw guns. It will come to that some day. If only one or two of those victums would have had a gun in their purse or pocket, they could have protected themselves, at least had a chance. But even in concealed carry states they generally prohibit guns in govt. building, schools, etc.

I feel terrible for their families.

Gene, I think you are right. Just one person with a gun could have saved lots of lives in Blacksburg today.I also believe this will cause the gun control issue to rise up again. Maybe we need to bury a few now in case we need them later. I don't understand how someone could do this.

Yes, very very sad! It will also give the damn anti-gun fanatics more ammunition too! A few sick people can sure create havoc no matter their methods. Truly a shame!

I must have misunderstood. My wife was telling me about it and she thought it was West Virginia. Never the less it is awful to hear of such things going on. I have been to Blacksburg, we use to hunt bear and deer in the mountains between there and Roanoke.

I have not seen the news yet so do not know anything but what I have read here. I know that contentious issues do not belong on this forum but first I must share the grief of those whose loved ones have lost their lives.
OK, I am a Canadian and proud of it. I also hate guns. As a kid we lived with guns. If we did not get a moose or 3-4 deer in the fall, we would have to kill a steer or heifer to get through the winter. My Mom used to can the 100 or so ducks we shot in our grain fields every fall. For three years I was Range Officer at our local army base teaching cadets safe handling
of firearms. So..I have some idea what I am talking about. I still have a single shot 12 gauge and 22 to deal with farm emergencies. I had to use one last week.

Anyway I feel that anything other that hunting or target weapons do not belong in our society and that includes all handguns and rapid fire weapons. Sorry for the rant.
Karl

I would not sleep in a house with something I hated. Guns are not the problem. You try laying your guns that you hate so much under your bed and don't touch them again. I will bet they never hurt anyone or anything. You can't blame the guns. Cave men killed one another with clubs.

But the cave guy didn't kill 30 people in one day and off himself.

Check your Bible killing has gone on since nearly the beginning in one form or another. It makes no difference what tool is used to do it with, it boils down to bad people not the weapon of choice. They are inanimate objects that won't harm anyone without people using them against people. Cain killed Able without a gun. If one of those law abiding students would have had a gun they could have ended this before it went to 30.

I haven't been to that campus, but of the ones that I have been on, all you would need to kill that many people is a car or truck. All you would need to do is wait till class change and just drive into the mobs of students trying to get to their next class.

A car driven into a crowd of pedestrians can kill a lot of people.
