I have a Super H without the "christmas tree" hydraulic control. Can I use a double acting cylinder vented with a single hose connection to operate a drag plow with hydraulic lift ? I have tried this and can not make the cylinder release pressure to drop the implement. Any one use this setup without the optional control system? Your response is appreciated.

That's exactly what I want to do. I have a 2-14 and it's not heavy. I'll try to locate a single acting cylinder. One more thing how large of a vent are you using? I used a 1/8 drill bit to vent a pipe plug.

On SH 24655 J I put a Saginaw 3pt hitch with 2 way cylinders, I don't have the Christmas tree valve on that tractor and I just ran a single hose to each cylinder and vented the other port. Works great on the 3 pt. Maybe your plow doesn't have enough weight to bring it down or maybe your valve isn't dumping enough hyd fluid back to the reservoir? It should work but maybe try getting a single acting cylinder. Hope this is of some help, Pat in Wis

What use is there for a two-way cylinder? I can not think of a farm use for one.

2 way cylinders are awesome!! First the can also be used as single acting, if ou vent the other port. Second, if the are on the fasthitch or 3 point, they give you downpressure, a must for a scraper blade or some plows. They are also almost mandatory on a loaders dump cylinder. If they are also on the lift arms, the allow you to scrape, digs, and so on!!

I wish I had a set for my lift arms. They run 200$ each from northern hydraulics not including shipping, haha

Well, Pat I did solve my problem. I opened up the vent to full port, which my hose to the outlet and it works like a charm. Thanks for your response. By the way, how does your 3 pt work on your SH ? I have thought about one for my so I use the tractor on a 7 ft finish mower - not that I need it but it would keep the tractor more useable then a piece to look at.

It is the most useful thing I have on the farm other than my wife. If I had to go without one or the other I'm not sure if I could pick! That 3 pt made a whole new tractor out of the super H. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend one. If you do get one you will probably want front wheel weights. With a 4 row cultivator on the 3 pt she gets pretty light in the front. Glad you solved your hyd troubles, Pat in Wis

Please explain how effective your wife can be

"re downpressure", especially if she is on top ..... ..... ..... I think you should do an EXHAUSTING series of trials and let us know..... QR
