Hello: What is the correct method to check the level of hydraulic fluid in a Farmall 350 (rowcrop)? And also where to fill the unit. I am going back to checkout another tractor and I told the owner that I would ask to make sure because I may have to add some IHC hyd fluid before starting the tractor. Thanks agpilot

Under the dash on the right hand side of the hydra touch unit there is a plug sticking out at a 45 degree angle that a wrench will fit on. Take it out and it should have a dipstick on it. If the dipstick is missing just fill it up to within a inch of the top and go. It is up under the right hood panel just a bit.

Hi georgeky. Under the "dash"?? There is a pipe fitting sticking out on the right side just BELOW the sheet metal "cowling" that covers the entire top of the tractor. There is nothing covering this pipe fitting at all. This looks to be a 3/4 inch pipe fitting angled up with a cap on the end. I would have guessed that is the offical fill pipe? It's maybe 10 inches up from bottom of hyd unit but maybe 4 inches below sheet metal... and not under anything. I consider the "Dash" only that which faces the operator and has starter button etc etc mounted on it.. This guy is not a friendly person so I'll have to ask again just to keep from ticking him off. Fill pipe and dipstick both one hole or is dipstick higher up? Hope you understand my wanting to know exact location. He may not allow me to add any hyd fluid for testing if I don't pull out a dipstick for him to see. Thanks again. agpilot ( any one with a picture?

you know sellers like that bother me. Seems if he owned the tractor he should know where to check and fill it. If he doesnt, then that would make me wonder how little he took care of the rest of the tractor. I dont know the circumstances of him having the thing, but if he used it to farm, he outta know better. Maybe he's hiding something. If the guy wont let you thoroughly look it over I would tell him to get lost.

Hello Jay Walt: Thanks for your comments but knowing more about the guy would explain his crusty nature. He bought, operated and sold 13 farms during his life and is a multi millionaire. He is now considering the fact he will have to die etc etc. This 350-rc was just an extra tractor he ended up with to mow around the edges of his place for the last several years. It's just another "toy" to him but he has made it clear it belongs to him. I don't want to get involved with his personal views at all. I simple want to focus ONLY on that 350-rc without irritating him. If I show that I know and understand that tractor, he seemed to say, he will sell. Just the way it is. Now I didn't quite understand georgeky's use of various words. We should not have refered to "Dash and Cowl" etc but rather just refered to the hydraulic control unit itself. On the right side about 9 or 10 inches up there is pipe fitting screwed in with a 6 inch extension pointing up with a cap on it. I assumed that is the filler hole. Now, did george indicate that further up under the cowling there is another fitting which has a dipstick?? I was not aware of an extra hole for a dipstick? A picture sometimes helps... or another persons way of explaining it. Thanks again Jay but going to church taught me to just ignore his crusty nature. I'll just focus on testing and buying that 350. ..agpilot

Yes you are right it is not under the dash. That rig on yours is something someone has rigged up, but that is the fill hole. The original bung will have a dipstick attached to it.
